Middle School

Welcome to Our Middle School Website

Welcome to Union Ridge Middle School.  This is an exciting time in your child’s academic career.  Students in grades 6th through 8th follow a 10 - period, daily schedule with an advisory period at 8:30 AM every day except for the 9 o’clock start on Wednesdays. This year we have incorporated an extra 30 - minute period at the end of each school day.  The period is called ‘WIN’ which stands for  “What I Need.” The additional time allows students an opportunity to receive help from individual teachers, allows time for homework completion, allows time to organize materials, helps alleviate added stress, and encourages student success.

Daily classes include double periods of Language Arts, single periods Math, single periods of  Science, Social Studies, and Physical Education. There is also an Exploratory class which lasts for approximately 6 weeks, allowing each student to experience 6 different exploratories during the school year.

Please see the links under “Classroom Resources” to view the Illinois State Common Core Standards by grade level for math and language arts and the Next Generation Standards for science.  These are the standards that your student will be covering during the school year.

Open communication is always welcome.  Please email your child’s advisor with any questions at any time.
