Union Ridge School District 86 New Student Registration
Enrollment is open to all legal residents who reside within the school boundaries in Harwood Heights.
School District 86 specifies that, to enter kindergarten, children must be five years of age on or before September 1st of their kindergarten year. Students who do not meet the age requirement will not be enrolled early. To enter first grade, a child must be six years of age on or before September 1st.
Students transferring into the school district will be accepted at the grade level recommended by the school of previous enrollment, unless the parent and building principal agree on other assignment in the best interest of the child.

Residency:
All District 86 residents must provide proof of residency. Verifying residency is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending Union Ridge School. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency before school enrollment and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law. Families whose residency we cannot verify may be asked to provide additional documentation.
To support this effort, the district may use third party services for address verification. Contact the office if you cannot provide the requested documentation ( Tel: 708-867-5822 or email: mmarsh@urs86.org.

What do I need to register a new student?
- Student's birth certificate
- Parent/Guardian Picture ID
- Custody documents(if applicable): court order agreement, judgment or decree that gives custody of the child to any person, including divorce decrees to one or both parents
- Illinois State "Good Standing'' Transfer Form (Students transferring from Illinois public schools, grades 1-8)
- Current physical/immunization record on the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) form. EC NEW STUDENTS ONLY: Proof of Income is required. Examples include, Pay stubs, CCAP, WIC, SNAP, TANF, Medicaid benefits. Most recent tax return or letter from employer. Signed written statement from the family, only if you have no income source.
- Four (4) proofs of residency (e.g., utility bills, mortgage statements, real estate tax documents, car insurance, credit card statements, or proof of village vehicle sticker purchase), along with a certified original birth certificate.
- Completed registration forms and Documents
- Fee payment
- 1:1 Accidental Insurance

New Early Childhood (EC) - Pre-K Students
- Fill out and print the Registration Form below, or visit the school office to pick up a registration packet.
- Bring the completed registration form and required documents to the school office.
- Additional forms may be required and will be provided by the school office.
New Kindergarten - 8th Grade Students
- Fill out and print the Registration Form below, or visit the school office to pick up a registration packet.
- Bring the completed registration form and required documents to the school office.
- Additional forms may be required and will be provided by the school office.

Registration will open for the 2026-2027 school year on April 8th, 2026 and must be completed online through the Skyward student information platform. Students currently registered at Union Ridge School District 86 must complete registration on an annual basis.
Who must register and prove residency?
- Union Ridge School preschool students returning to preschool
- Union Ridge School preschool students moving up to Kindergarten
- Students currently enrolled in Grades K-7
How To Complete Registration:
- Log into your Skyward account using a computer or the Skyward mobile app.
- Click the 2026-2027 Current Student Registration tile on your child’s Skyward profile.
- Verify or make additions/corrections to your student’s information.
- Upload proof of residency documentation where indicated.
- Don’t forget to click “Submit!”
- Repeat this process for each child.
- You will see a new tile for each form you open and start.
- Once submitted, your child’s registration tile will read “Submitted.”
- If the tile reads “In Progress,” go back into the form and click Submit.
- If you reopen the tile after submitting it, you must click Submit again.
- After your form is reviewed and approved, it will disappear from the student dashboard.
