Physical Education

Our goal is for all students to:

  • Participate in all activities in a safe environment.
  • Develop an attitude of sportsmanship and fair play in all activities.
  • Develop locomotive movements in primary grades (walk, run, hop, skip, jump, gallop, slide, and leap).
  • Rolling, balancing and weight transfer.

All students in grades 1st through 8th grade receive Physical Education on a daily basis.  Students in grades 1st-4th receive 30 minutes of PE instruction.  Students in grades 5th-8th receive PE for 43 minutes daily.  Kindergarten students receive PE once per week for 30 minutes.

Athletic Program

The Union Ridge athletic program is rich in history and tradition. Designed to foster the development of young student athletes, the program stresses character building, teamwork, sportsmanship, fundamentals, and a focus on academic achievement.

In season, our athletes maintain a demanding practice and competition schedule, as well as weekly study sessions and academic monitoring. Our goal is to help our young athletes develop into strong players on the court and field, and confident and engaged learners in the classroom.

The Union Ridge Huskies compete in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference ( LNAC ).

All sports require participation in a pre-season tryout. Students must have a sports physical on file with the school nurse.

Below is a snapshot of the athletic opportunities we have to offer our students.
