Facciamo La Pizza

Facciamo La Pizza

The 8th grade Italian class had a creative experience making pizza from scratch with Mrs. Hesslau’s dad, Mr. Iannotta. On Thursday, November 8, the students met in the lunch room and learned how to make pizza dough with Mr. Iannotta. The students took turns kneading the dough and asking Mr. Iannotta questions in Italian. They were able to talk about where Mr. and Mrs. Iannotta came from, how old they were when they made the move to America, and life as an Italian immigrant. The next day Mr. and Mrs. Iannotta brought in fresh baked pizzas and two focaccia’s for the students to enjoy. Thanks to Mrs. Borner, the students were able to see a focaccia cooked in real time on a Pizza Pizzazz machine.

“This was the best pizza I’ve ever tasted” – Danielle H. The students shared that making the dough is much easier than expected and that they will be trying to make a pizza of their own at home.

“I have never had better pizza. I can’t wait to do it again!” – Julia D.

“The pizza felt like it was created with love and hard work. I could taste it. It was that good!” Karla R.

“Best pizza ever.” – Jaiden L.

“I’ll eat it again anytime!” Daniel H.

“Thank you so much!” – Glory L.

It was an enriching experience that was filled with hard work, laughter, learning, and fun!
