6th Grade Participating in "Hour of Code"

Students in 6th grade science are participating in a worldwide event called the “Hour of Code” by personalizing their own Google logo doodle, using a student friendly program called Scratch.  Computer science helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.  The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science.  We are actually doing more than just one hour, and we plan to continue to use our knowledge of coding in an upcoming math geometry unit.  Ask your 6th grader to show you his or her project!  They are very excited about their new computer skills!
