Students in grades 3-8th are selected for the Enrichment For Critical Thinking Program based on achievement tests and nationally normed tests.  Programs and service options are available for meeting the needs of the high achieving students at Union Ridge. These options include enrichment classes, weekend opportunities (offered through regional suburbs), various talent searches through our regional educational service center and Northwestern University, and summer enrichment opportunities.

Students in Grades 3-6 are pulled-out for a differentiated LA program stressing core subject extensions, critical thinking, problem solving, logic, and deductive reasoning. Identified middle school students in Grades 7-8 are cluster grouped in Language Arts.

Critical Thinking

Union Ridge School’s Enrichment Program provides experiences for students of exceptional academic ability and aptitude. It is a program that maximizes learning for the students, while exposing them to a variety of fields of study that might not necessarily be taught in the regular classroom. It is a program that incorporates an accelerated pace, higher-level thinking, logic, problem solving, and divergent thinking while providing students with more independence, self-direction, and discipline in learning
